Track and Field Concludes First Day of Shamrock Invite

CONWAY, S.C. - Freshman Emily Bernhardt notched Kentucky's first NCAA regional-qualifying mark of the 2007 outdoor season to cap off a rain-shortened first day of the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University.

Bernhardt topped her personal-best mark by nearly five feet in the women's hammer throw to notch UK's first regional-qualifying mark of the season.

The men's 4x200 white relay team, consisting of Kwasi Obeng, Jose Acevedo, Luis Luna and Gordon McKenzie claimed first place in the event, while the blue squad, consisting of Nathan Browning, Mikel Thomas, Geoffrey Daley and Justin Harrison finished third.
