Distance Medley Relay Breaks School Record
One week after breaking a 17-year old school record, the women’s distance medley relay squad broke the school record again on Feb. 6 at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The squad, which consists of Brooke Patterson, Caity Phillips, Jackie Gordon and Beth Heimann, ran the relay in a fourth-place time of 11:17.66 Friday night and hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark for the second time in as many weeks.
Gordon also had a good showing in the 500-meter dash, finishing first in 1:14.25. Nick Reeves and Tom Byers also competed in the first day of the meet for Kentucky, finishing in 2:34.93 and 2:32.95, respectively, in the 1,000-meter run.
The Cats return to action tomorrow for day two of the Meyo Invitational, and UK will also be competing on Saturday at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
