UK’s Heimann and Gordon Complete Day One of Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Kentucky sophomore Jackie Gordon and senior Beth Heimann posted impressive finishes in their respective events to lead the University of Kentucky track and field squads Friday in the opening day of the Meyo Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame.

Heimann finished first in the women’s 1,000-meter run with a season-high time of 2:51.84. Gordon, a Frankfort, Ky., native, finished second in the women’s 500-meter dash with a season-high 1:15.34 mark.

Kentucky returns to action tomorrow as it completes the Meyo Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. with sprint trials and slower sections of the remaining running events. Finals begin at 2 p.m. with the Meyo mile scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
