Dear Parents & Campers,

Welcome to the University of Kentucky Track & Field / Cross Country Camps. We appreciate you considering sending your young athlete to our camp. Our UK coaches and athletes are eager to work with your aspiring young athlete.

The UK Track & Field / Cross Country Camps are training camps, but importantly learning camps. Each day, all campers will participate in specific workouts designed to improve their event or sport specific physical abilities, but more important they will learn the reason behind each of the various training sessions and the techniques associated with their specific event(s) which will allow them to continue working to improve their newly learned skills long after the camp is over.

Training each day will be age, gender, skill and fitness specific. We will train and teach each camper from wherever the athletes currently are in their careers, novice to pre-college. Training will be challenging, but it will also be manageable. Skilled athletes or top fitness can't be created in just a few days, but each day campers will earn training methods, skills and techniques, that with continued practice will enable them to improve throughout their career.

We will also spend time each day discussing the psychology of being a competitive athlete. Young athletes live in a very competitive, comparable world and need to be taught how to flourish in that very challenging world.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Don Weber
Head Track & Field/Cross Country Coach
