LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky divers Greg Ferrucci and Lisa Faulkner capped off impressive performances at the 2011 AT&T Diving National Championships on Saturday in Los Angeles with Ferrucci finishing seventh on the men’s three-meter springboard and Faulkner finishing 12th on the platform.
Ferrucci posted a final score of 391.20 for his six-dive total to put him in seventh place for the championships. The reigning Southeastern Conference Male Freshman Diver of the Year continued to dive consistently, as five of the six dives he posted were above the 60-point plateau.
“It was another great day for our divers today,” UK diving coach Ted Hautau said. “Greg handled the pressure very well. He showed tremendous poise and confidence. I am very pleased with his progress in his first year back in the sport.”
Faulkner, who closed out her career with Kentucky in the spring, capped off her national championships at the Spieker Aquatics Center with a 12th place finish in the finals of the women’s platform. Faulkner scored a 251.90 after qualifying for the finals Wednesday.
Faulkner posted two dives over 50 points and continues to grow, as this was only her second national championship she has competed in.
“I’m proud of the way Lisa performed,” Hautau said. “This was only her second national championship meet and she finaled in both of her events.”
