LEXINGTON, Ky. – 10 members of the University of Kentucky rifle team will spend the weekend competing in the Winter Airgun Championships at the USA Shooting Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“The Winter Airgun Championships is a great opportunity for some of our shooters,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “We will have some that haven’t traveled before get some experience shooting on the road which will be very beneficial for us.”

Competing for the Wildcats will be seniors Aaron and Emily Holsopple, juniors Cody Manning, Elijah Ellis and John Sutton, sophomores Connor Davis and Luke South and freshmen Heather Kirby, Sonya May and Jason Sharbel.

“Competition is going to be really good,” Mullins said. “It is going to be big for our team to be able to compete in that atmosphere. Last year we had a good showing and we hope to continue that into this year.”

The Championships kick off Friday morning and continue through Sunday when the Finals wrap up.

Results of the matches will be available on USAshooting.org.
