In his 18th season at Kentucky, Collins continues to build the men’s program into a nationally recognized program. His 2008 team made the Conference USA Tournament championship game, finish runner-up in the C-USA regular season and end the season with a No. 21 national ranking. Two players from the 2006 squad have gone onto the professional ranks as Riley O’Neil signed with Eintracht Braunschweig (Germany) and Mike D’Agostino signed with Blackpool (England), who play in the Football League Championship, one level below the Premier League. In addition, former goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum helped guide the Columbus Crew to the 2008 MLS Cup. Former Striker Anthony Peters also signed with DC United in the MLS this past spring. In January 1993, Collins was awarded the Robert NcNulty Award as the outstanding coaching candidate at the United States Soccer Federation Coaching School. In 1994, Collins earned his USSF “A” coaching license and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. Two summers ago, Collins spent time in Europe working on his UEFA license.
