Three Wildcats Under Par on Day One of Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – Three Kentucky men’s golfers were under par during their opening 18 holes of play at the Schenkel Invitational on Friday. Sophomore Cooper Musselman led the way for the Cats with a season-low round of 68. Senior David Snyder and sophomore Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel were the other Wildcats with scores below par as the Wildcats sit in a tie for ninth among a grueling field following day one.

About the lineup:

Musselman fired a 4-under par, 68, and is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard. He’s four shots off of the lead with 36 holes to play. The Louisville, Ky., native began his round with a bogey on No. 1, but then carded his most impressive round of the season including capping the round in stylish fashion.

He was 2-under par on the opening nine holes. He had birdies on back-to-back par 4s on Nos. 4 and 5. He then birdied the par-five No. 7. Through 13 holes of play, Musselman fell back to 1-under par before igniting a stellar finish. He birdied the final three holes of the day to get to 4-under par for the best round of the day for any Wildcat player.

McDaniel turned in his team-leading 12th under par round of the season with a 1-under, 71. Snyder also fired a 71 on the opening day of play and the duo sits in a tie for 36th overall. McDaniel’s round featured four birdies on the afternoon, while Snyder posted five including one on the final hole.

Freshman Jalen Ledger, making his first appearance of the spring season, posted a 1-over par, 73. Ledger was even over the first nine holes on the afternoon before finishing the day at 1-over and in a tie for 53rd.

Junior Stephen Stallings capped round one in a tie for 65th following an opening round of 75. Freshman Lukas Euler, playing as an individual, fired a 77 on Friday and is in a tie for 76th.
