Sutjiadi/Adachi Earn Bid to UTSA/ITA Indoor Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Kentucky’s No. 1-ranked duo of Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi defeated Oklahoma State’s Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic in the consolation doubles final of the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday afternoon, 8-3.

With Sutjiadi and Adachi’s win over the Cowgirls, the UK pair secured an automatic bid to the UTSA/ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships for the second consecutive season.

Last season, the duo advanced to the title match, but fell to North Carolina’s Haley Carter/Whitney Kay in a tiebreak, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(6).

Hosted by Columbia University, the Indoor Championships will be held Nov. 3-6 at the Billie Jean National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. Adachi/Sutjiadi will be one of only 20 women’s doubles pairings to compete.

In order to qualify for the event, participants either must be winners of the ITA Oracle Cup Super Bowl, or be consolation champions, doubles finalists, men's singles quarterfinalists or women's singles semifinalists from the Saint Francis ITA Men’s and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

The Wildcats will be back in action Oct. 20-24 when they head to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, for the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.
