BriAnne Sauer Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior BriAnne Sauer was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. This is the first such honor for the senior from Louisville. Sauer is one of 11 volleyball athletes tabbed for the honor.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Sauer has been an active member in the Lexington community since her arrival on campus. She is a regular visitor at the UK Children's Hospital and has worked volleyball camps and clinics including the Cooperstown Sports Clinic, Girl Scout Volleyball clinic and the YMCA volleyball clinic. Additionally, Sauer has spent time helping the Salvation Army and the National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans. She along with some of her teammates worked for Habitat for Humanity.
Sauer has also participated in a number of physical activities to aid the community including the Jumpin Jags Health kickoff, Skeeter Johnson walk and the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. Finally, Sauer has also spent time working at the Lighthouse Ministries as a server and a visitor and spent time with the youth by helping with the Junior Wildcat Club autograph signing.
The senior is a three-time member of the ESPN The Magazine CoSida Academic All District team and a three-time All-SEC Academic Team performer.
She is having the best season of her career in her final campaign for the Blue and White. Twice this season she has been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week as she has racked up a career-best 510 digs this season. Her career total of 1,564 career digs is the ninth most of any player in SEC history.
UK wraps up the regular season in Knoxville on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Match time is set for a 7 p.m. ET start.
