No. 24 Wildcats Set to Host South Carolina Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 24th-ranked Kentucky volleyball team will begin a three-match home stand beginning with a 7 p.m. ET tilt against visiting South Carolina Friday night in Memorial Coliseum.

Kentucky (19-4, 10-2 Southeastern Conference) is one win shy of achieving 20 or more victories under the direction of Craig Skinnerfor the fourth time in seven years. UK charted a pair of hard-fought road contests behind the best blocking efforts of the season at Georgia and Auburn a week ago.
UK notched a school-best 20.5 put-backs in the win at Georgia with all of UK's blockers recording four or more for the match. Against Auburn, junior Christine Hartmann and senior Becky Pavanled the way with eight rejections each.
Hartmann also posted a career-high 54 assists and found four different UK attackers for 13 or more kills. For her efforts she was tabbed the SEC Player of the Week by the conference office.
Kentucky continues to utilize a balanced offensive attack with six players registering between 2.22 and 3.07 kills per frame. Junior Ashley Frazierhas been on fire recoding 10 or more hammers in 10-of-12 conference matches this season.
UK is set to host South Carolina to begin its three consecutive home matches in Memorial Coliseum where UK has yet to fall in league play this season.
South Carolina enters the weekend with an 11-10 overall record and a 2-9 mark in league play. The Gamecocks are led by 3.88 kills per set from Juliette Thevenin. South Carolina continues to pace the league with 17.26 digs per frame, but manages just 1.47 blocks per set.
A season-best offensive performance guided Kentucky to a 3-1 victory at South Carolina in the first matchup of the season between the two squads in Columbia, S.C. UK charted a then season-best .398 hitting clip and had three players in double-figures with 10 or more kills. The trio committed a mere four combined errors led by a flawless performance from Armes.
Armes totaled 11 kills on a career-best .647 hitting percentage. Pavan led the way with 15 kills on .520 hitting, Frazier totaled 14 kills on a .522 clip. Pavan notched 10 kills over the final two stanzas.
Hartmann dished out 48 assists at a .533 clip and matched a career-high with seven hammers of her own to the Wildcat cause.
UK limited the hot-hitting South Carolina offensive squad to 44 kills on .205 hitting. Kentucky charted 10 blocks in the match with Pavan leading the way with six for the day. Junior Stephanie Klefot had a match-high 15 digs and sophomore Whitney Billings chipped in with 12. Freshman Lauren O'Connerposted a then career-high seven scoops and added eight kills in the match.
Kentucky's Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 9-10. UK is one of four sites selected for Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, from the Lexington Region.
Opening night matches are scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. ET. Saturday's final is set for a 4:30 p.m. ET first serve.
Tickets are now on sale through the UK Ticket Office. All-Session Tickets are reserved for all ages at $14. General Admission tickets for adults are priced at $12 and students or seniors' general admission is slated for $8.
Single session tickets are priced at $8 for reserved for all ages. General admission for adults is priced at $7, with students and seniors priced at $5. Youth single session tickets are $4.
