Feb. 15, 2011
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky volleyball signee Jackie Napper was named to the ESPN Rise High School All-America second team it was announced by ESPN.
Napper hails from Louisville and is a libero for Assumption High School. She is one of 36 high school players hailing from 14 different states to earn the distinction as an All-America selection on one of ESPN's three teams.
"We are really happy for Jackie," UK coach Craig Skinner said. "She is one of the elite liberos in her class and this recognition is well deserved. She was a major factor in why her teams won an AAU National Championship and a State Championship at Assumption. Jackie will have a big impact on the future of the Kentucky volleyball program."
A 2009 All-State performer with Assumption, Napper was a vital member of the KIVA 17-under club that captured the AAU National Championship in 2010. Assumption then went on to capture the 2010 state title, and Napper was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. In addition to her state title honors, she was earlier named the MVP of the Asics Battle of the River Tournament and was named to the Durango Classic All-Tournament team as a senior. Napper also excels in the classroom and has been named to the final honor roll in her three complete years of high school.
Standouts from 14 different states were honored by ESPN Rise, and Napper is one of just two selections from the state of Kentucky.
