Schunzel Accepts Head Coaching Position at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. –  After helping head coach Craig Skinner guide the Kentucky volleyball program to consecutive Sweet 16 appearances in two seasons with the team, Keith Schunzel was named the head coach at Kennesaw State it was announced by the school Monday morning. 

Schunzel helped UK to a 50-17 record over the last two seasons as Kentucky advanced to consecutive Sweet 16 appearances for the first time since the late 1980s. The Wildcats had six All-America selections in two seasons and capped the year ranked in the top 20 twice with Schunzel as a member of the staff.

"Kennesaw State hit a home run in hiring Keith," Skinner said.  "He has an unbelievable IQ and passion for the game that will inevitably lead the program to new heights.  His work ethic is outstanding, and he will be a great example for the team to follow.  We are excited for Keith and his family to begin this new chapter in their lives."

Schunzel was responsible for scouting and film breakdown for the Wildcats. Additionally, he worked directly with the training of UK's setters. He also executed the successful Kentucky volleyball camps during his tenure.

Skinner has now had three members of his staff move on to head coaching positions with Schunzel's hiring at Kennesaw State. Robert Pulliza (Arkansas) and Lauren Sauer (James Madison) also were tabbed to head coaching jobs following their time with the Wildcats.
