Feb. 13, 2014

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Kelsey Dieters will face off with old teammates when Kentucky meets with Ohio State University, Friday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. ET at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. Dieters transferred from OSU to Kentucky before the fall season.

The Wildcats and the Buckeyes have met 20 times in school history and Kentucky leads the series 14-6. Ohio State enters Friday’s match 3-3 and is looking for its first road win against a ranked opponent. UK will have their hands full with OSU freshmen, Gabriella De Santis and Sandy Niehaus. No. 78 De Santis is 2-0 vs. ranked opponents and is 2-1 in the No. 1 singles position. Niehaus has claimed five-consecutive matches this spring.

“We’ll be tested during this match, but we take it one match at a time and hopefully we’ll come out prepared to play,” Kentucky head coach Carlos Drada said.

Kentucky (8-1) is on five-game win-streak after its wins over Eastern Kentucky and East Tennessee State on Wednesday. Junior Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff had a standout match against ETSU clinching the eighth win for the Wildcats. Senior duo Caitlin McGraw and Cece Witten have been strong for the Wildcats at the No. 1 doubles slot. This will be the team’s last home match before traveling to Bloomington, Ind. to take on Indiana University. Members of the team will be available post-match to sign autographs.
