Landis Named SEC Freshman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. - UK freshman forward Caitlin Landis has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Landis, a native of New Columbia, Pa., scored a goal in both matches this weekend against the SEC West's top two teams. The freshman gave Kentucky a 1-0 lead against Alabama on Friday, finishing the match with a team high four shots, three on goal, in addition to the goal.
Landis also put the Wildcats on top of Auburn 1-0 with her sixth goal of the season. She finished the match tying for team honors with three shots, two on goal. She played all 110 minutes against Auburn and the full 200 minutes on the weekend.
Landis now leads the team in scoring (13) and is tied for the team lead in goals scored (6). Landis' six goals are tied for seventh most by a freshman in UK history. Her 13 points is ninth most by a UK freshman in program history.
The award is the second of her collegiate career and second in the last three weeks. She was named league's Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 4. It is the 21st time a UK player has received any sort of SEC player of the week honor.
The Wildcats travel to Ole Miss this week to take on the Rebels Thursday night.
