Women's Soccer Match to be Televised on ESPNU

July 14, 2011

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky-Georgia women's soccer match on October 16 has been slated to be televised live nationally on ESPNU.

Originally scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, the time has been changed to a 4:00 p.m. ET start.

"We have great appreciation for the SEC television contract with ESPN which allows a national audience to see the top-flight competition that is the Southeastern Conference," UK head coach Jon Lipsitz said. "Last year's match against Georgia was a classic and we expect this year to be much the same."

Last season, in Lipsitz's second year at the helm of the Wildcat program, Kentucky advanced to the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2007, posted its 11th 10 win season, finishing with a 10-7-3 record and 4-5-2 in league play. Along the way, the Cats posted a 2-1 upset of 15th ranked Virginia Tech and a 1-1 tie with 17th ranked Georgia in Athens.

Kentucky is set to return its top four scorers and five of its top six in 2011.

In addition to the UK-Georgia time change, the Wildcats' match at South Carolina on Sept. 30 has been changed to a 6:00 p.m. start.

UK opens the season on Aug. 19 in Rochester, Mich. against Oakland and will play its home-opener on Aug. 23 against Eastern Kentucky.
