Knoxville, Tenn. - For the second straight match the UK women's soccer team (3-8-2, 1-3-1 SEC) was unable to hold on to a lead, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Tennessee Lady Vols (6-7-0, 3-2-0).

After falling behind 1-0 early, Kentucky netted two unanswered goals to go up 2-1; however the Lady Vols scored two straight goals late in the match for the victory.

"It was the same story," said UK head coach Warren Lipka. "We're scoring goals now, but we have to learn to play with a lead. We need to get the mental toughness to finish games off."

Tennessee grabbed the early 1-0 lead on Kylee Rossi's ninth goal of the season in the 10th minute. Devon Swaim centered the ball from the far right sideline to Rossi, who was unmarked and waiting and put a header away for the 1-0 UT lead.

Giuleana Lopez tied it at 1-1 in the 16th minute with her fourth goal of the season. Lopez took a pass from Laura Novikoff and proceeded to dribble through the Tennessee defense and fired a shot to the left of a diving Jaimel Johnson for the score.

The Wildcats claimed a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute when Jenna Goblirsch drove into the upper left corner of the box and drifted a shot high that Johnson tipped over to Nicola Holdsworth who finished for her second goal of the season and the UK lead.

Tennessee tied it at 2-2 in the 62nd minute, once again off the foot of Rossi. The SEC's leading scorer dribbled through the Wildcat defense, and eventually got a good enough look to fire off a shot that deflected through UK goalie Sydney Hiance's hands and into the back of the net for the tie.

The Lady Vols reclaimed the lead for good in the 85th minute on Alissa VonderHaar's second goal of the season. VonderHaar took control of the ball and dribbled across the top of the 18-yard box and fired a shot to the right of Hiance for the game-winner.

Alicia Browning had an opportunity to tie the game with 2:25 left when she controlled a loose ball four yards in front of the goal, however her shot was deflected away by a Tennessee defender, thwarting the UK attempt.

Lopez paced the UK offense with three shots, all on goal. Kiondra McGee and Goblirsch also tallied two shots each.

The Wildcats return to action Sunday in Athens, taking on the Georgia Bulldogs. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Fans can follow all the action on
