Kentucky Finishes First Round in Second

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Through one round at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, the University of Kentucky women's golf team sits in second with a total score of two-over-par 290. Junior Ashleigh Albrecht is leading the Wildcats, sitting tied for fourth with a first-round score of one-under-par 71.
With two birdies on the day, Albrecht sits two strokes behind the leader. In her third event of the year, sophomore Liz Breed is tied for ninth at even-par 72, a season best. To go along with her season low round, Breed sunk four birdies, also a season best.
The Wildcats currently sit two strokes out of the top spot behind TCU, who is leading the tournament at even-par 288. University of Texas-San Antonio, who is hosting the tournament, and Baylor are tied for third at five-over-par 293.
"I am really proud of today's performance, it was steady golf from top to bottom," said UK head coach Golda Johansson Borst. "We are in a good position for the next few rounds, but we'll have to continue to just take it one day at a time."
Junior Heather Lott finished the first round at one-over-par 73. Lott's two birdies leave her tied for 18th overall, but just four strokes behind the leader in the narrow field. Junior Betsie Johnson is just one stroke behind Lott at two-over-par 74. With one birdie on the day, Johnson sits tied for 23rd overall. Senior Ashlee Rose finished her first round at four-over-par 76. As an individual, junior Megan Moir shot an 84 in the first round.
Kentucky will begin the second round of the Alamo Invitational on Monday. The Cats will tee off in eight-minute intervals from the first tee. Rose will tee off at 9:50 a.m. followed by Johnson, Lott, Breed and Albrecht. Moir will tee off from the 10th tee at 9:50 a.m. All times are Central.
