UK Women's Golf Hosts First Reunion

Sept. 27, 2011

LEXINGTON, Ky. - In conjunction with the football game, the University of Kentucky women's golf team hosted its first annual reunion this past weekend, Sept. 23-24. The reunion kicked off Friday with a golf scramble that allowed former players to team up with some of their former teammates.

After a fun, yet competitive, day on the course, the reunion continued Saturday with a women's golf tailgate before the football game that welcomed many former and current UK golfers. The tailgate gave the former players the opportunity to meet current players and the new coaching staff.

"The reunion was a great success and I was very happy with the amount of players that came back," UK head coach Golda Johansson Borst said.

The reunion taught current players about the past traditions of the women's golf program while highlighting the bright future of the program for the alums.

"We are really excited about the future of this program," Borst said. "I think it is very important for the younger generation to be able to interact and hear the programs of the past and at the same time for the alumni to see where the program is going and to be a part of that."

The Cats return to action this weekend when they host the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club in Lexington. Kentucky hopes to continue to improve after a top-three finish in its only tournament of the year, the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial.
