LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky women's golf team finished the second round of the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial in Bryan, Texas on Monday with a combined score of 313 to sit in fourth place heading into the final round on Tuesday. UK senior Ashlee Rose is still in the top 10, shooting another 2-over-par 74 to place her tied for seventh with a score of 148 overall.
Kentucky's fourth-place score of 36-over-par has the Wildcats close behind third-place North Texas, who sits at 33-over-par. Southeastern Conference foe Auburn is in second at 22-over par, while Texas paces the field at 13-over par.
"Today's round was a little bit more challenging than yesterday's round, but we hung tough and I know the girls gave it their all today," said head coach Golda Johansson Borst. "We learned a lot and we will build on that for the last round tomorrow."
Rose's consistent play has left her the only UK player in the top 10. The native of Lexington, Ky., posted three birdies in the second round en route to her 2-over-par score of 74.
Juniors Ashleigh Albrecht and Betsie Johnson are ranked in the top 25 on the individual leaderboard with Albrecht carding a 10-over-par 82 to sit tied for 16th, while Johnson stayed consistent by posting her second-consecutive score of 5-over-par 77 to finish tied for 25th.
Kentucky hopes to make a surge in the final round Tuesday. The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
