Kentucky to Tee Off 2012 Bryan National Collegiate

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky women's golf team will begin its final tournament of the regular season Friday morning in Greensboro, N.C., at the 2012 Bryan National Collegiate. The three-day event will be held at the par 72, 6,323-yard, Players Course at Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center.  

The tournament consists of 17 teams with eight individuals making up a field of 93 players. The 17-team field is made up of College of Charleston, Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Northwestern, North Carolina, N.C. State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Kentucky has made five appearances in the Bryan National Collegiate from 1998-2002, with the program's best finish coming in 2000, with a ninth-place finish. Kentucky's best individual finish at the event was Towa Okiyama, who placed in a tie for sixth in 2002.

Host school Wake Forest claimed a victory at the 2011 Bryan National Collegiate with a 31-over-par 895. Erica Popson of Tennessee finished atop the 2011 individual leaderboard with a 4-over-par 220.

Kentucky will tee off Friday morning from the first tee box in nine-minute intervals. Senior Ashlee Rose will lead off for the Wildcats at 9:50 a.m., followed by junior Ashleigh Albrecht, sophomore Liz Breed, junior Heather Lott and junior Betsie Johnson at 10:26 a.m. All times are Eastern.

Kentucky season average leader, Albrecht, will return to action Friday after missing the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational due to an ankle injury.

The Wildcats are entering their final regular season event of the spring with three top-11 finishes. Johnson leads the Wildcats in the spring with a 74.22 scoring average. Johnson has been Kentucky's top finisher in two events this spring while Albrecht led the Wildcats in the UCF Challenge.
