Women's Golf Caps Off First Appearance at Windy City Classic

Oct. 7, 2014 WILMETTE, Ill. - The University of Kentucky women’s golf team wrapped up the final round of the Windy City Classic on Tuesday. Teams played 36 holes on Monday, while Tuesday consisted of 18 holes. The Wildcats concluded action in 14th place overall with a 59-over par final team score of 923 (312-302-309).

Southern California finished at the top of the leaderboard with a total team score of 876 (+12). Completing the top five team standings were Northwestern (+15), Iowa State (+24), Arizona (+27) and Oklahoma State (+29).

Rounding out the rest of the team standings were Ohio State (+30), Georgia (+31), Tulane (+33), Purdue (+35), Minnesota (+40), Oregon (+44), Wisconsin (+46), Miami (+48), and New Mexico (+76).

Firing an even par, 72, in the final round was junior Sarah Harris, who led the Wildcats with a 7-over par total of 223 (77-74-72). Harris concluded the tournament in a tie for 21st.

Cylia Damerau and Haley Mills tied for 61st. Finishing in 67th was Kentucky native Ale Walker, while Megan Kinney tied for 76th.

The Wildcats will be back in action Oct. 17-19 in a three-day event at the Stanford Invitational hosted at Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. As a team, the Wildcats shot their third lowest round of the year last year, 290, to take eighth place.
