Women's Golf Tied for 11th after First Day of SEC Championship

HOOVER, Ala. - Fighting through rain delays and tough playing conditions, the University of Kentucky women's golf team posted a 25-over par, 313, on Friday to sit in a tie for 11th place after the first round of the SEC Championship at Greystone Golf and Country Club. Play was suspended due to darkness and three teams will finish first round play Saturday morning before second round play begins at 10 a.m. CT.
The start of the tournament was delayed for an hour by rain and then after two hours of play through a steady rain shower, the fairways began to show standing water and play was stopped for three more hours.
Arkansas sits atop the team standings at six-over par, and is one of the teams who did not finish play on Friday, while LSU (+7), Auburn (+8), Vanderbilt (+10), South Carolina (+13) and Alabama (+13) complete the top five. Alabama's Janie Jackson is currently atop the individual standings at three-under par.
Rounding out the rest of the team standings were Georgia (+14), Missouri (+15), Florida (+16), Texas A&M (+17), Ole Miss (+25), UK (+25), Tennessee (+26) and Mississippi State (+33).
Sophomore Cylia Damerau recorded the low Wildcat round on day one with a 3-over par, 75. Her score currently has her tied for 22nd. Fellow sophomore Sarah Harris carded a 4-over par, 76, and is tied for 31st.
