Cats Use Strong Final Round to Finish Fifth at Rebel Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf time posted the third lowest round of the field on Sunday with a 5-over-par, 293, finishing in fifth place at the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate. Sunday wrapped up the 54-hole tournament that featured a field of 18 teams. The Wildcats, who finished 22-over for the tournament, used a strong effort on Sunday to propel them three spots from yesterday after beginning the day in eighth place.
Junior Liz Breed competed as an individual for the Cats over the weekend and turned in one of the best performances of her career. The Waynesboro, Pa., native tied a career-low with a 54-hole score of 2-over-par, 218 and equaled her best finish, tying for eighth place overall. Breed, who shot back-to-back rounds of 1-over-par, 73’s on Friday and Saturday, tallied four birdies on Sunday to shoot even par on the afternoon.
Senior Ashleigh Albrecht finished tied for 12th overall with a final 54-hole score of 3-over-par. Albrecht was 1-over-par on Sunday, charting three birdies on the day, all coming on the back nine holes. Her final score of 219 and place on the leaderboard were the third-lowest of the season for the native of Murrieta, Calif.
Sarah Harris recorded the low score of the day for Kentucky, firing a career-low 1-under-par, 71. The freshman sank four birdies on the afternoon and concluded the invitational at 7-over-par, tying for 24th place. Her final tournament score of 7-over-par, 223 was also a career-best.
Seniors Betsie Johnson and Heather Lott each wrapped up the tournament at 9-over-par and tied for 34th. The two both had two birdies on Sunday, with Johnson shooting 2-over and Lott was 7-over.
Megan Moir tallied two birdies on both the front and back nines, totaling four on the afternoon for the senior. Moir was 3-over-par on the day, finishing 14-over for the event and tied for 56th.
