Women's Golf Concludes Season Opener in 11th

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - Returning to action for the first event of the spring season, the University of Kentucky women's golf team concluded the Hurricane Invitational held at Don Shula's Golf Resort (6,210 yards, par 72) on Tuesday in 11th place behind a 54-hole score of 926 (310-303-313).

Senior Kristin Vincent paced the squad with a 13-over-par 229 (77-75-77). Vincent finished tied for 24th, marking her fourth top-25 performance in five events. The Burlington, N.C., native leads the Wildcats in scoring average with a 75.14.

Fellow senior Sara Hurwitch finished three strokes behind Vincent and landed in a tie for 41st after recording a 232 (79-75-78). Freshman Ashleigh Albrecht also posted a top-50 finish with a 49th-place 235 (81-74-80). Albrecht's second-round 74 marked Kentucky's lowest score of the tournament.

Registering a 238 (76-79-83), freshman Betsie Johnson rounded out Kentucky's top five. Sophomore Ashlee Rose closed out the tournament one stroke behind Johnson with a 239 (78-79-80).

Central Florida took top honors with an 894 (307-293-294), while San Diego State's Christine Wong recorded a 217 (69-74-74) to claim the top individual prize.

Next, the Wildcats travel to Valdosta, Ga., March 1-2 to co-host the inaugural Challenge at Kinderlou Forest with Kennesaw State. The competition is set to take place at Kinderlou Forest Golf Course.
