The Wildcats (27-4) earned their third trip to the title game in the last four seasons by using an impressive second-half performance to defeat No. 12 Georgia in the semifinals, 60-38. UK outscored the Lady Dawgs 41-14 in the second half, holding them scoreless for the final 6:08 of the game, and 22.2 percent (14-of-63) shooting for the game.

"We came down here with the intention of winning the tournament," UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. "I'm excited for our opportunity to compete for the championship.  We know we'll have to play well and prepare well to beat Texas A&M.  We'll put everything we can into it and see what happens and try to get as ready as we can."

Junior center DeNesha Stallworth (Richmond, Calif.) led all scorers with 18 points, while grabbing a game-high four blocks. Senior All-America candidate A'dia Mathies (Louisville, Ky.) added 11 points and grabbed two steals which set a new UK career steals record with 310. The previous record was 309 set by Stacey Reed from 1991-95.

The Wildcats are 2-0 vs. Texas A&M after winning both regular-season matchups vs. the Aggies this season.  The Wildcats won 65-62 in Lexington on Jan. 10 and 70-66 in College Station, Texas on Feb. 18.

UK is 27-34 all-time in the SEC Tournament, 1-2 in the championship game. All three title games were against Tennessee. UK won the tournament championship in 1982 and fell to the Lady Vols in 2010 and 2011.
