NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The 16th-ranked Kentucky women's basketball team will face seventh-seeded LSU in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament Friday, March 4. The game will be carried live on FSN, ESPN3.com and the Big Blue Sports Network (radio) with Neil Price from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Tip time is slated for a 3:30 p.m. EST start.

Kentucky earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the fourth time in six years after another remarkable season under the direction of head coach Matthew Mitchell. The fourth-year coach led the Cats to their second straight 20-win season with a 22-7 overall record, including an 11-5 mark in SEC play. The 11 league wins ties the school record for SEC wins in a season (11 set a year ago). UK's second-place finish also ties last year's squad for the highest regular-season finish since the SEC moved to its current 12-team format in 1992 and since the 1982-83 squad finished second in the East when the SEC had a 10-team, divisional format.

The Lady Tigers (19-12, 8-8 SEC) advanced with a convincing 60-36 win over Alabama in the opening round Thursday afternoon. LSU held the Tide to a mere 24.1 percent shooting (14-of-58), including just 16.0 percent (4-of-25) in the opening stanza. LSU led 26-9 at the half.

LaSondra Barrett scored a game-high 14 points in the winning effort followed by Adrienne Webb with 13 points. Taylor Turnbow grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and blocked two shots. The Tide's leading scorer and rebounder, Tierney Jenkins, who came into the tournament averaging a double-double with 15.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, was held to seven points and six boards against the Lady Tigers.

UK is 22-31 all-time in the SEC Tournament, including an 8-12 (40.0) mark in quarterfinal games. UK's championship appearance last season was the highest for the Cats since winning the tournament in 1982.

The Lady Tigers lead the overall series with Kentucky 28-9 and own a 7-2 advantage against the Cats in the SEC Tournament. UK has lost three straight over the Lady Tigers in conference tournament play. The last meeting was in 2008. UK's last win over LSU in the SEC Tournament was in 1999 (81-71).

Overall, UK has won the last two regular-season meetings vs. LSU, including a thrilling 49-47 victory in the teams' only game this season in Lexington.
