Feb. 8, 2010

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky's Victoria Dunlap (Nashville, Tenn.) was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in UK's two wins over Ole Miss and Arkansas, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced.

The 6-1 junior forward posted 18 points, including 13 in the first half, on 6-of-10 shooting to go with seven rebounds in UK's 80-66 win against Ole Miss. She eclipsed 700 career rebounds against the Rebels, becoming just the eighth player in school history to register more than 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in a career.

In the Wildcats' 71-57 win over Arkansas on Sunday, Dunlap scored 20 of her 22 points after intermission, including five points during a crucial 8-0 run midway through the second half that allowed UK to pull away for the win. She also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, becoming only the fourth player in program history to record 20 or more career double-doubles. She now has seven double-doubles and nine games with 20 or more points this season.

Dunlap ranks in the top five of six SEC statistical categories, including leading the league in steals per game (3.3). She also continues to move up several UK career charts, including blocks (tied for third-107), rebounds (eighth-713) and points (24 th -1,043).

This is Dunlap's seventh overall conference Player of the Week honor, her third this season. She was also named the POW last week after averaging

a double-double (21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds) in wins over No. 18 LSU and Mississippi State.

With Dunlap's help, UK ranks second in the SEC standings behind No. 5 Tennessee at 20-3 overall, 8-2 in the SEC. The Cats have charted their first 20-win season since 2006-07 and their seven consecutive SEC wins are a school record. UK also has won eight of their first 10 league games for the first time in school history.

The Wildcats look to tie the school record for most SEC wins in a season (nine) and extend its home winning streak to 15 when they play host to Georgia on Thursday in Memorial Coliseum. The Cats look to avenge a 61-60 overtime loss to the Lady Bulldogs in their conference opener in early January. The game will be televised on FSN at 7 p.m. EST.
