Quigley Nets Second Singles Victory, Leads US into Finals at Master'U BNP Paribas

Behind University of Kentucky men's tennis star Eric Quigley's second singles win in two days, the United States steamrolled into the finals of the Master'U BNP Paribas behind a 5-1 victory over Great Britain on Saturday.
The UK sophomore from Pewee Valley, Ky., played in the second men's singles slot for the second consecutive day, beating Keith Meisner 6-3, 6-3. On Friday, Quigley defeated Thomas Petrich of Switzerland 6-2, 6-2.
The Americans have been impressive during the first two days of the tournament, losing only one point in victories over Switzerland and Great Britain. The U.S. will face host nation France on Sunday in the championship.
The Americans won all four points in the women's singles and men's singles action on Saturday. The U.S. earned the second-round victory with a win in the women's doubles match.
The United States Tennis Association website, usta.com, has a blog set up for fans to follow the players while they are playing overseas. The blog is being updated by Falconi, who is giving a detailed write-up of what the Americans are doing with their time in France.
Quigley claimed the singles title at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships and reached the semifinals in doubles. Quigley reached the singles and doubles quarterfinals at the 2009 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships and is No. 24 in the ITA Preseason Division I doubles rankings. The Wildcat made an impressive quarterfinal run in the tourney by defeating four ranked opponents during a six-match win streak. Quigley's defeat of top-ranked Oleksandr Nedevyesov of Oklahoma State was the highlight of the tourney in Tulsa.
