LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the second consecutive week, the University of Kentucky men's tennis team ranks as one of the top-10 teams in the country, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings which were released Monday.
Kentucky (26-8) entered the top 10 of the ITA rankings last week for the first time since being ranked eighth in the team standings on April 13, 2010. The consecutive top-10 ranking is the first for the Wildcats since the last two weeks of March last season. UK had an eight-week stretch last season from Feb. 12 to March 30 where it was ranked as one of the top-10 teams in the nation.
Individually, UK is well represented in the ITA singles rankings with junior Eric Quigley leading the way at No. 6 in the nation. Fellow junior Alex Musialek is No. 53, while senior Alberto Gonzlaez completes the rankings at No. 90.
In doubles, UK's duo of senior Brad Cox and Quigley moved up one spot this week to No. 19 after defeating three top-15 ranked tandems in their last six matches to move into the top 20 last week.
UK has not played a match since its loss in the finals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament last Sunday in Gainesville. The NCAA will announce the NCAA Tournament field on Tuesday.
