NEW HAVEN, CONN. -

Kentucky men's tennis sophomore Eric Quigley concluded the 2009 fall season with a 16-4 singles record after falling to No. 46 Ed Corrie of Texas 7-5, 6-4 in a second-round consolation match of the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at Yale University's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center Saturday.

In a tight first set, Quigley and Corrie fought to 5-all to force extra games but the Longhorn used a service break and held serve to claim the first set 7-5. Corrie also edged Quigley in the second set with a 6-4 decision.

Quigley earned an automatic bid to the National Indoors after claiming the singles title at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships inside Indiana University's Indoor Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind., last week.

The Pewee Valley, Ky., native joined an exclusive group of former Wildcats who have competed at the National Indoors. Last season Bruno Agostinelli played in the Championships, advancing to the consolation final after dropping a first-round match. In 2004, Jesse Witten became the first UK player to advance to the National Indoor singles final. Additionally, current UK associate head coach Cedric Kauffmann advanced to the 1996 Championship semifinals before bowing out.

The Wildcats are off until mid-January when they conclude the indoor season in Atlanta at the SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships. Kentucky opens the regular season with a doubleheader at home against Xavier and Morehead State on Sat. Jan. 23.
