Dylan Asher Named Freshman All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After a freshman season that saw defender Dylan Asher earn All-Conference USA and All-Region accolades, CollegeSoccerNews.com has named Asher to its third-team Freshman All-America team, it was announced.

A native of Richardson, Texas, Asher becomes just the second freshman All-America honoree in program history. Last year, midfielder Matt Lodge became the first freshman All-American in school annals after leading UK in scoring in his first year out of Rossington, England.

Asher has received a bevy of honors in his collegiate debut, earning third-team All-Conference USA honors, a spot on the All-Conference USA freshman team and being named third team All-Midwest Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Asher started every game of the season, primarily logging his team-high 1767 minutes on the backline, but also showing versatility to play in the midfield, with UK dealing with a bout of injuries in the middle of the campaign. On the year, Asher totaled 14 shots, including five on goal, and helped lead the UK defense – powered by All-Conference USA freshman goalkeeper Tyler Beadle – to four shutouts on the year.
