Oct. 27, 2014

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 18th-ranked Kentucky men’s soccer team will face a stiff test to conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 7 p.m. ET visit to Ohio State on Tuesday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Tuesday’s game will match two top-25 teams in the NCAA Rating Percentage Index as Ohio State (7-5-3; 4-2 B1G) is No. 22, and UK is No. 25 in the RPI.

The showdown will also pit two of the hottest teams in the country against one another. Kentucky has won five games in a row and is unbeaten in its last seven. Ohio State has won three straight.

The game will be streamed via BTN Plus for a fee.

The Wildcats sit atop the Conference USA table on 14 points with a record of W9 L3 D3 (4-0-2 C-USA).

Kentucky’s current seven-match unbeaten streak is tied for the second-best total in the history of the program. Since the Wildcats posted a 1-0 win at No. 1 Notre Dame, their second all-time win over a top-ranked foe, UK has posted an 8-1-3 record, outscoring opponents 19-7.

UK is undefeated in the month of October. During UK’s current streak, the Wildcats have wins over No. 9 New Mexico, at No. 21 UAB and at South Carolina in the double-overtime thriller on Saturday.

UK has outscored opponents 14-5 over the seven-game stretch.

Napo Matsoso scored his first career hat trick, and the 10th in UK history, at South Carolina. Ryan Creel’s second goal of the season was the golden goal with one minute remaining in double-overtime on Saturday.

UK boasts one of the strongest defenses in the nation, particularly when it comes to keeping clean sheets. The Wildcats’ nine shutouts this year ranks third nationally. The Wildcats keep their opponents off the scoreboard 60 percent of the time in 15 games this season.
