Soccer Hosts Wildcat Invitational Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After dispatching two opponents in the season-opening University of Kentucky Invitational, the UK men’s soccer team will host the Wildcat Invitational, facing Loyola Marymount on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET at the UK Soccer Complex.

Kentucky (2-0-0) will host the four-team tournament, with Houston Baptist and Butler playing on Friday at 5 p.m. ET before the Wildcats host LMU at 7:30 p.m. ET. On Sunday, Butler and LMU will play at noon ET and the Wildcats will host Houston Baptist at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Last weekend, UK posted a 1-0 win over both Eastern Illinois and IUPUI, getting game-winning goals from freshman Tyler Riggs on Friday against EIU and Jordan Rose against IUPUI on Sunday. In goal, UK was led by freshman goalkeeper Tyler Beadle, who posted two shutouts in his first career games. On Tuesday, Beadle was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.

Loyola Marymount (2-0) posted two wins to open the season, besting San Diego State in overtime, 2-1 and posting a 2-0 win over California State Northridge. Artur Jozkowicz netted two goals in the first two games, while Phil Da Silva and Roger Downes each netted a goal. In between the pipes, Jack McCormack has stared both games, saving six shots and allowing only one goal in 180 minutes. Rafael Baca, David Ponce, Jonas Reiter and Vincent Ocampo added assists.

The Wildcats and LMU each enter the game receiving votes in the latest top-25 poll released by Soccer Times.
