Cedergren Announces 10 Additional Newcomers, 2012 Roster

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky men’s soccer head coach Johan Cedergren has released 10 newcomers and the entire 2012 roster, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Cedergren announced three signees earlier in March and has completed the roster with 10 additional newcomers on the 2012, 25-man roster. After Caleb Richardson (Highland Village, Texas), Jacob Searce (Louisville, Ky.) and Jacob Speed (Mansfield, Texas) signed with the Wildcats in March, Cedergren completed the roster with an additional 10 talents.

UK’s newcomers include Dustin Scibilia (Escondido, Calif.), Bryan Celis (Houston, Texas), Lawson Crider (Mayfield, Ky.), Isak Krogstad (Tromsoe, Norway), Adam Pettys (Los Angeles, Calif.), Jason Pitts (Valparaiso, Ind.), Cally Irving (Vancouver, British Columbia), Dary DeWalt (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Krostoffer Tollesfsen (Sandefjord, Norway).

“This is a very strong group of players that will have a huge impact on this program throughout their collegiate careers,” Cedergren said. “They bring a variety of talents to Lexington and we are thrilled to bring them into the UK family. We are all looking forward to getting out on the pitch in August and get ready for the season opener.”

UK also returns several talented players from its 2011 season, including its top three scorers in forward Tyler Riggs (11 goals, five assists), forward Matt Lodge (seven goals, 10 assists) and midfielder Charles Pettys (three goals, seven assists).

The Wildcats will open up the 2012 season on Aug. 26 at Dayton at 5 p.m. ET. UK will open up its home schedule on Sept. 7 with the annual UK Invitational at the UK Soccer Complex, hosting St. Joseph’s and Charlotte.

A midfielder from Shattuck-St. Mary’s Academy in Faribault, Minn., where he was under the direction of Steve Cornish … While at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Crider lead the team in assists in 2007-2009 and again in 2011 as well as being selected a ODP Team Captain for the 2008-2010 seasons … While being guided by Robert Moullin for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s US Development Academy he accumulated a 72-13-9 record, scoring 54 goals and handing out 77 assist from 2005-2008 … In 2009, Crider helped lead his club team to a Club Soccer National finalist finish …The 2008 season saw Crider lead his club to a Kentucky State finalist showing … In 2007, Crider’s club team won the National Indoor Championship … Member of the KY State ODP, Regional Pool, and the US Club Soccer National Team … Trained with English clubs during the summer in 2007-2009 … Named MVP at the Kentucky and Indiana soccer camps in 2007.

A product of Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota, DeWalt is a physically imposing goalie that was under the tutelage of Tim Carter and goalkeeper coach Ryan Brooks … Previously at Greendale High School from 2008-2009, DeWalt was selected to the state team from 2007-2009 and the regional team from 2008-2009 before enrolling at Shattuck, a US National Team Developmental Academy … At Greendale he was named the MVP of the season and with Shattuck was named most improved player for one year … In 2011, started six games for Shattuck as a senior … Was also a goalkeeper for the FC Milwaukee team, earning a three-star rating from TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Jacob Scearce
