Men's Golf to Compete at Wolf Run

Sept. 19, 2014

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky men’s golf team returns to action for the second tournament in as many weeks with a trip to Zionsville, Ind., to play in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The Wildcats will take to the Wolf Run Golf Club course for the two-day, 54-hole event beginning on Saturday.

"Wolf Run is perhaps the best and most challenging golf course we play all year,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “It is simply fantastic, and will test every part of your game. Our goal is to focus on what we can control and have extraordinary patience this week. I like this team and can't wait to get out and compete again."

Kentucky is coming off a top-five finish at The Invitational at the Ocean Course to begin its 2014-15 campaign. UK fired a 19-over par, 883 to finish fifth in its season debut. Freshmen Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel and Cooper Musselman led the Wildcats with 14th-place finishes at 3-over par.

This week’s tournament will feature a lineup that includes McDaniel and Musselman, juniors Harrison Greenberry and David Snyder and sophomore Stephen Stallings. McDaniel, Snyder, Musselman and Stallings were among last week’s lineup, while Greenberry will make his season debut at Wolf Run. Senior Will Bishop and junior Todd McDaniel will compete as individuals.

In addition to Kentucky, the two-day tournament field is comprised of Akron, Ball State, Chattanooga, Eastern Michigan, Florida, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, IUPUI, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Penn State, South Alabama and William and Mary.

Wolf Run Golf Club was conceived in the early 1980s by the late Dr. Jack Leer. His dream was to build a demanding, world-class golf club for serious golfers. In 2007 Golfweek magazine dubbed Wolf Run as the 15th-best modern course in the country.

The course is a par 71, with a total distance of 7,155 yards. The tournament will begin with 36 holes on Saturday with players teeing off with a shotgun start. Sunday’s final round of 18 will see the players tee off from holes No. 1 and No. 10. Online scoring following each day’s round will be provided by

A season ago, UK finished third at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. Snyder posted an 8-over par (221) to finish in a tie for 13th. Greenberry and Todd McDaniel also appeared in the event in 2013.
