Cobb, Trevathan, Warford Keep Awards Coming, Picked All-SEC by Coaches
Dec. 7, 2010
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three University of Kentucky football players, Randall Cobb, Danny Trevathan Larry Warford, were selected to the 2010 Coaches All-Southeastern Conference team announced Tuesday.
Cobb and Trevathan were selected to the first team, Cobb as an all-purpose player and Trevathan as linebacker, while sophomore Larry Warford made the second team as an offensive lineman. Cobb was also named to the second team as a wide receiver.
Cobb is the only player in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision to rank first or second on his team in rushing, receiving and passing. The junior from Alcoa, Tenn., leads the Wildcats in receiving with 79 catches for 955 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 12.1 yards per catch. The junior ranks first in the SEC and second nationally in all-purpose yardage, averaging 182.7 all-purpose yards a game. Cobb is averaging 11.9 all-purpose yards per play, which ranks him first in school annals in that category, while only needing 119 all-purpose yards to break the SEC single-season record.
Trevathan has been equally successful on the defensive side of the ball for Kentucky, leading the SEC in tackles with 130. The native of Leesburg, Fla., is third in the SEC and tied for 19th nationally in tackles-for-loss with 16. The junior’s 16 tackles-for-loss is only four off UK school-record pace of 20 set by Art Still in 1977. Overall, Trevathan leads UK in tackles (130), tackles-for-loss (16), fumbles forced (4) and is tied for the team lead in sacks (3.0). For his career, Trevathan has 217 total tackles.
Warford, a sophomore from Richmond, Ky., has been influential in Kentucky’s offensive success this season as the Wildcats rank 26th nationally in total offense and scoring offense. Warford has allowed only one quarterback sack this season and leads the team in knockdown blocks with 43.
Kentucky was recently selected for its school-record fifth-consecutive bowl game, becoming one of 28 teams to have played in a bowl every year since 2006. The Wildcats will take on Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 8 at noon ET in Birmingham, Ala.
