Four Football Stars Tabbed Midseason All-SEC
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky football standouts Alvin “Bud” Dupree, Landon Foster, Darrian Miller and A.J. Stamps have been named midseason All-Southeastern Conference by Phil Steele, it was announced.
Miller, a senior offensive tackle, earned second-team honors, along with Dupree – a senior defensive end/linebacker. A junior safety, Stamps was also tabbed second team, along with Foster, UK’s junior punter.
A native of Irwinton, Ga., Dupree leads all SEC players in career sacks with 19, including 4.5 as a senior in 2014. Dupree has 208 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, five pass break-ups and one interception in his four-year career. He ranks tied for second in UK history with 19 sacks.
Foster, a 6-foot-1 product of Franklin, Tenn., ranks third in UK career history with a 41.9 average, also downing 45 punts inside the 20-yard line. As a junior in 2014, Foster has punted 34 times for a 41.3 yard average, with his 17 punts downed inside the 20 a career high and ranking third in UK history, dating back to 2004.
Miller, a product of Lexington’s Bryan Station High School, played in his team-leading 43rd game on Saturday at LSU. A 6-foot-5, 292-pound offensive tackle, Miller entered his senior season having started 24 consecutive games and has started 30 of UK’s last 31 games. Following UK’s win over Vanderbilt on Sept. 28, Miller was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after grading out at 89 percent with four knockdown blocks.
A native of Vicksburg, Miss., Stamps is starring for the UK secondary in his first season after transferring from East Mississippi Community College, which claimed the national title in 2013. A six-foot, 199-pounder, Stamps is tied for the team lead with three interceptions, helping pace a UK defense that ranks fifth in the NCAA in interceptions. Stamps has 32 tackles and three pass break-ups on the year, with interceptions in wins over Vanderbilt, South Carolina and in the season lidlifter vs. UT Martin.
UK at Missouri Set for 4 pm ET Kickoff: Kentucky’s game at Missouri on Nov. 1 has been selected for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff, with the game televised live on the SEC Network. The game will also be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with Tom Leach, Jeff Piecoro and Dick Gabriel voicing the action.
