Wednesday Practice Report

Sept. 30, 2009

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Clad in full pads, the Kentucky football team practiced for two hours Wednesday morning in cool, cloudy weather on the Tim Couch Practice Fields.

“We practiced better,” Coach Rich Brooks said. “We'll see whether we responded the way I hoped when we line up and play on Saturday.”

Brooks commented on the importance – and difficulty – of good tackling in Saturday's game against No. 3-ranked Alabama.

“To win most games you have to tackle pretty well,” Brooks stated. “Having said that, we're going to miss some tackles because these backs don't always go down with the first tackle. But the key is if you miss one there's somebody else right there swarming to make up for it. If we try to tackle instead of trying to block somebody down, that is the key to me.”

Three players were held out of practice Wednesday because of injuries, cornerback Paul Warford (quadriceps strain) linebacker Micah Johnson (turf toe) and Sam Maxwell (turf toe).

“Cat Walk” Set for 10:15: Fans wishing to participate in the “Cat Walk,” cheering the Wildcats when they enter the stadium on Saturday, should be at Gate One of Commonwealth Stadium at 10:15 am.
