Brothers Johnson are Game Captains

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Brothers Johnson - offensive guard Christian and linebacker Micah - are the game captains for the Florida contest, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

Game captains are normally selected on the basis of performance in the previous game. Christian played extremely well at left guard. The Wildcats allowed no quarterback sacks and piled up 346 yards total offense in UK's 31-27 over in-state rival Louisville. Micah had a game-high 12 tackles, including a tackle for loss.

The Johnsons will join permanent captains Zipp Duncan and Corey Peters at the pregame coin toss.

"Cats Sack Hunger" at Florida Game: Kentucky football fans are asked to help the "Cats Sack Hunger" at Saturday's football game against Florida.

As part of the annual Southeastern Conference food drive, there will be a cash collection on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. The UK Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is coordinating the event, which will benefit God's Pantry Food Bank in Lexington.

Fans may participate by donating cash or checks (payable to God's Pantry) to the SAAC representatives, who will be in the parking lots and at the stadium gates prior to the 6 p.m. kickoff.

In additions, fans may participate by:

  • Dropping off canned goods in collection bins at any Kroger in Fayette County
  • Making an on-line donation at
  • Bring canned food or money to the UK Volleyball game on Friday night

"GuestAssist" Service Now Available: Beginning with Saturday's game against Florida, University of Kentucky Athletics is offering a new fan service at Wildcat football games .

"GuestAssist" is a communications service which enables one-to-one text messaging between Commonwealth Stadium guests and stadium operations personnel. "GuestAssist" enables fans to ask questions about game-day information and/or report concerns regarding behavior through the convenience of their cell phones. Stadium operations personnel will monitor and respond to guests' game-day inquiries on a real-time basis and if needed, dispatch support, security, etc. to the guests' location.

Fans wishing to utilize the service should text: CATS , your message & your seat location to 78247. ( CATS must be the first four characters in the message body . Standard text message rates apply.)

"GuestAssist" is not intended for emergency use. In the event of an emergency, guests should contact the nearest stadium event staff and/or dial 911.

The "Guest Assist" service was tested successfully during last Saturday's home opener and should be fully operational from this point forward.

"One Great Season" Visits Lexington: University of Kentucky football is being visited this week by John P. Wise, a New York-based writer who is chronicling the 2009 college football campaign in a book to be entitled "One Great Season."

Wise is visiting one campus each week of the season, then covers the game on Saturday. His weekly schedule to this point has been Georgia at Oklahoma State, Southern California at Ohio State, Michigan State at Notre Dame and now Florida at Kentucky.

"Buyer Beware" for Tickets Not Bought Through UK or TicketMaster: Fans are reminded "buyer beware" for game tickets not purchased through official outlets - UK Athletics or TicketMaster.

  • Tickets that have been reported as lost or stolen have cancelled bar codes and will not be admitted to Commonwealth Stadium.
  • UK student tickets are admissible only with a current UK student identification card.
