Wildcats Halfway Through Spring
April 13, 2009
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky football team hit the mid-point of the 2009 spring-practice season on Monday with the eighth of 15 allotted practices.
The team practiced for two hours Monday morning on the Tim Couch Practice Fields. Much of the practice involved working on corrections following the major scrimmage held on Saturday.
"There were some really good things and there were some that weren't so good," Coach Rich Brooks said when asked to review what he saw on the scrimmage film. "The receivers need to get back to what they`d been doing in earlier practices, and that's catching the ball and making plays. We didn't see enough of that, we had too many dropped passes.
"Today was a good practice," Brooks continued. "We got the wheels turning a little bit after looking at the film, trying to correct mistakes. The learning process needs to continue. We can't keep repeating the same mistakes, so that's what's important about getting progress. We'll tell a lot more next Saturday when we have another big scrimmage."
The Wildcats return to practice Wednesday and Friday before the team's second major scrimmage on Saturday.
Spring Practice Calendar: Practices are open to media and fans. Practices are held at the Nutter Training Facility unless noted otherwise. Practices might be moved indoors to the Nutter Field House in case of bad weather.
