Calipari Announces Dribble Drive, Shooting and Skills Academy
June 5, 2013
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Kentucky men's basketball program is pleased to announce the dates and information for the inaugural John Calipari Dribble Drive, Shooting and Skills Academy.
Inspired by Coach Cal's innovative and successful offense, the Dribble Drive, Shooting and Skills Academy is the first of its kind and will offer detailed skill work designed for players off all ages. All of the drills taught are geared exclusively toward the skills needed to succeed in the Dribble Drive Motion Offense. The Academy will focus primarily on the offensive skills that campers can take home and continue using to improve their offensive skill set.
The inaugural academy is scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Joe Craft Center, and will offer two separate sessions available for registration. Both sessions are open to both boys and girls from kindergarten through 12th grade, with a limited number of spots available in each session. Each academy will provide campers will extensive interaction with current Kentucky coaches and players as they teach offensive skills stations, demonstrate drills used by the Kentucky players, and speak about what it takes to become a champion. Campers will enjoy all of this in the comfort of the greatest facilities in all of college basketball.
The cost for each session is $100 and includes camp T-shirt, autograph opportunities and three hours of detailed instruction with Kentucky players and coaches.
Dribble Drive, Shooting and Skills Academy Session 1 (9 a.m.-noon EST) - Check-in 7:45-8:45 a.m.
Dribble Drive, Shooting and Skills Academy Session 2 (2 p.m.- 5 p.m. EST) - Check-in 12:45-1:45 a.m.
Camper's grade level is based on the grade in which the camper will be enrolled during the fall of the 2013 school year. On-site camp check-in will be located at the Joe Craft Center ticket office and begin one hour prior to the designated start time. All pre-registered campers will receive a confirmation email for their specific academy session that includes details of necessary paperwork needed (physical, insurance and consent). To ensure the safety and participation of all campers, it is important that the basketball office receives all necessary paperwork two weeks prior to the start of the academy. Once each individual session has reached its maximum capacity, that particular camp will be closed to all forms of registration (online and walk-ups). Any camp related questions can be called into the men's basketball camp line at 859-257-9457.
