UK Trio Named to NBA All-Rookie Teams

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The accolades continue to roll in for former UK men’s basketball players Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall as all three were named 2010-11 T-Mobile NBA All-Rookies the NBA announced on Wednesday.
Cousins and Wall were named 2010-11 T-Mobile NBA All-Rookie First Team, while Bledsoe received second team honors.
Wall, a four-time T-Mobile Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month selection for the Washington Wizards, ranked seventh overall in assists (8.3 apg) and steals (1.75 spg), and finished second among rookies in scoring (16.4 ppg).
Cousins set a Sacramento-era rookie record for total rebounds (699) and averaged a team-high 8.6 rebounds (second among rookies). Cousins added 14.1 ppg (third among rookies), scoring in double figures in 58 games, and 2.5 apg.
Bledsoe started 25 of 81 games this year for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 6.7 points, 15th best among rookies and 3.7 assists which was third best among rookies.
Former Wildcat standout Patrick Patterson was also among those receiving votes. Patterson ranked 16th among rookies, averaging 6.3 points for the Houston Rockets, while pulling down 3.8 rebounds, 11th best among rookies.
The voting panel consisted of the NBA's 30 head coaches, who were asked to select five players for the first team and five players for the second team, regardless of position. Coaches were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. Two points were awarded for first team votes and one for second team votes.
