Kentucky's Tim Asher Selected Basketball Video Coordinator of the Year

The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Tim Asher, Video Coordinator for the University of Kentucky, the 2011-2012 Basketball Video Coordinator of the Year.

Asher was selected by a majority vote of his peers in Collegiate Basketball to receive the Video Coordinator of the Year honor. He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 17, 2012.

The Collegiate Sports Video Association named Tim Asher, Video Coordinator for the University of Kentucky, the 2011-2012 Basketball Video Coordinator of the Year.

Asher was selected by a majority vote of his peers in Collegiate Basketball to receive the Video Coordinator of the Year honor. He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 17, 2012.

The Bob Matey Award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.

Tim Asher recently completed his twenty-third season with the Kentucky Basketball team and has been the Video Coordinator for the Men's & Women's Basketball since the 2000 season. Tim has been blessed to go to six Final Fours and been a part of three National Championships. Tim is currently in charge of the replays for Commonwealth Stadium & Rupp Arena video boards, all video & signage in the $34 million Joe Craft Practice Center, coaches' video for UK Men's Basketball and the production of the coaches' TV shows.

A 1982 graduate of Morehead State, Tim was able to gain video experience in college for both the football and basketball teams. After finishing his bachelor's degree, Tim worked as a Production Videographer at WLEX-TV. He later took a job at WDKY-TV as a Producer/Director and was promoted to their Production Manager position. Prior to being named the Kentucky Basketball Video Coordinator, Tim worked freelance video for UK athletics. In 1988, Tim started his own company, Idle Minds Production. Tim has been a member of the Collegiate Sports Video Association for twelve consecutive years. He is married to the former Cynthia Martin and they have one fourteen-year-old daughter named Laura.
