Red-Hot Baseball Hosts Cincinnati in Tuesday Tilt

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Winners of 10 consecutive games, the Kentucky baseball team will host Cincinnati in its final non-conference tune-up before league play, facing the Bearcats at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The game will be televised live on the SEC Network, with Mike Morgan and Chris Burke calling the action. The game will also be broadcast live on the UK Radio Network, with the Voice of UK Baseball, Neil Price, calling the action.

Kentucky (12-3) will face off with the Bearcats in its final test before conference play begins for the Wildcats at No. 6 South Carolina on Friday. UK enters the game riding a 10-game winning streak, tied for the seventh-longest streak in program history.

UK posted a 5-0 week to open its home schedule, starting with a 4-1 win over Murray on Tuesday in the home lidlifter, before sweeping the twinbill with a 4-3 win in the nightcap. With the weekend looming and UK slated to host UMass in a four-game series. but with the Minutemen displaced by winter storm Thor, UK found a nearby foe in a similar situation in Northern Kentucky. The Wildcats posted a three-game sweep over the Norse, getting a complete-game shutout from Zack Brown in the opener, a 6-0 win that saw the sophomore righty allow only two hits and no walks in an 11-strikeout outing on Saturday. UK then swept its second doubleheader of the week on Sunday, a 7-6 result in the opener and a 9-4 win in the finale.

Kentucky has hit .306 as a team in 2015, with a .392 slugging and a .388 on-base percentage. UK has belted 24 doubles and two triples, ripping six homers and scoring 92 runs in 15 games, stealing 24 bases. On the mound, UK has a 3.35 team ERA in 137 innings, walking 45 and striking out 135, holding opponents to a .232 average. Over the 10-game winning streak, UK has a 2.27 team ERA and have held opponents to a .214 average.

UK's weekend rotation has seen starts from Brown (1-1, 1.74 ERA), Dustin Beggs (2-1, 2.59 ERA), Kyle Cody (2-1, 3.43 ERA) and Robert Zeigler (1-0, 7.36 ERA). Lefties Brad Schaenzer (0-0, 0.75 ERA), Zack Logue (1-0, 1.80 ERA) and Logan Salow (1-0, 6.23 ERA) have each made starts, with Salow also owning a save. Spencer Jack (0-0, 10.12 ERA) has two saves in five games, with Andrew Nelson (2-0, 3.00 ERA) appearing in a club-best even games with a save.

Junior leftfielder Ka'ai Tom has hit .418 with four doubles and 17 RBI, stealing four bases to lead the club. Catcher Zach Arnold owns a .414 average with four doubles and two RBI, with centerfielder Kyle Barrett sporting a .380 mark with five doubles and seven RBI. First baseman Evan White has a .326 mark with a double, homer and eight RBI. Shortstop Connor Heady has a .324 average on the year, with a homer and three RBI, stealing a base. Infielder Riley Mahan has batted .308 with three doubles, one triple and five RBI, with third baseman Thomas Bernal batting .306 with four doubles and 14 RBI. Second baseman JaVon Shelby has hit .286 with two doubles, one triple, two homers and 13 RBI, swiping four bases. Outfielder Storm Wilson leads the club with five steals, hitting .216 with three RBI and a .333 on-base percentage. Catcher Greg Fettes has added a .214 mark with two homers and nine RBI, reaching base at a .353 clip.

Free gameday parking is available in the C-8 lot beyond rightfield or in the E lot adjacent to Cliff Hagan Stadium. The C-8 lot will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Once C-8 is filled, vehicles will be directed to park in the E lot next to Cliff Hagan Stadium. After the E lot is full, a limited amount of parking will be available in Parking Structure No. 7 on the ground floor. If you're parking in PS#7, please exchange your ticket for a pink payment voucher at the ticket booth, prior to the end of the fourth inning. Additionally, overflow parking will be available in the smaller E lots close to Cooper Dr., as well as the C-6 lot at Commonwealth Stadium. All fans are asked to please follow the signage provided to the nearest parking location.
