LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Kentucky women's cross country team placed fourth, while the men were fifth at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational at Masterson Station Park on Saturday.

Aundrea Busse, competing for just the second time as a Wildcat placed third overall, with a 5,000-meter time of 16:50.80, 15 seconds behind the winner, Katie Borchers of Ohio State.

“We are very young," UK head coach Edrick Floreal said. "I think there's still a lot of upside. But overall it's just building a team and building strength when you get a lot of young kids that just don't have the experience or haven't been in the sport long enough to kind of really push them. So it's kind of like the old egg syndrome — you hit them too hard, you'll crack them. But you don't want to break them. So I think we've got a little bit of work to do and a little bit of improvement to make."

Ohio State won the women's competition with 50 points, EKU were second with 75 and No. 19 Oklahoma State finished third on 76 points. UK scored 80 points.

Matt Hillenbrand was the top Wildcat finisher on the men's side as he turned in a 14th-place 8K time of 24:41.70.

Kentucky finished fifth on 127 points. No. 21 EKU just edged fourth-ranked Oklahoma State to win the meet 45-48. Ohio Stae (92 points) placed third and Southern Indiana was fourth with 107.
