Lindsey Sets Freshman High Jump Mark at Owens Classic
Lindsey now has the freshman high jump record all to himself by breaking the 7-2.50 mark that tied him with former Cat Michael Mason last week. The height is also the third-best all-time in UK history.
Three UK hurdlers also took home regional-qualifying marks while notching top-10 performances in school history.
Freshman Danielle Sampley?s 100m hurdles time of 13.54 is fourth-best all time at Kentucky. Junior Ashley Trimble improved her fifth-best mark in the UK annals with a 400m hurdle finish of 1:00.55. Classmate Mikel Thomas broke into the school record books on the men?s side of the 400m hurdles with a fourth-place mark of 51.67.
In the men?s triple jump, freshman David Banks posted the fourth-best distance in UK history hitting the dirt at 50-2.75. The leap is a personal best and beats the regional standard.
The UK throws squad continued their assault on Kentucky?s all-time outdoor marks with four updated entries along with six regional qualifying marks.
In the women?s shot put, freshman Jennifer Svoboda threw a personal-best distance of 51-11.75 to improve her fourth-best mark at UK. Junior Emilee Strot climbed the all-time list with a throw of 49-11.75 to place fifth all-time. Both ladies eclipsed the regional standard.
Strot posted earned another regional nod with her discus throw of 171-00.
Junior Chase Madison?s shot put measurement of 58-7.50 ranks ninth in Kentucky history and as a result punched his ticket to the regional.
Sophomore Kristin Smith eclipsed the regional standard by pitching the hammer a personal-best distance of 182-6 to improve her sixth-place mark in school history. Senior Andy Fryman?s throw of 205-3 nabbed him a regional mark.
Freshman Brendan Ames beat the regional standard in the men?s 110m hurdles with a time of 14.28.
In the men?s 200 meter dash, junior Jose Acevedo notched a regional mark with a time of 20.91. Classmate Gordon McKenzie posted one of his two marks in the event with a time of 21.16, after running under the standard in the men?s 100 meter dash clocking in at 10.54.
