Track Cats Head to Iowa State Classic

For its last meet before the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, theUniversity of Kentucky travels to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Track and Field Classic.

In this final SEC tune-up, the Cats are looking for more NCAA qualifying performancesto go along with those of freshman Jeff Chakouian and Simidele Adeagbo.

In the first meet of the season, Chakouian automatically qualified for the NCAA IndoorChampionships in the shot put, throwing a personal- and school-record 65-10.50. Thatheave ranks as the third best in the nation.

For the women, Adeagbo has provisionally qualified for NCAAs in two events. Herpersonal-best leap of 20-03.50 in the long jump is ranked eighth in the country, while hertriple jump of 41-09.75 is the 11th-best leap in the nation.

Action gets underway at the Leid Recreation Center on Friday with the weight throwsat 4 p.m.
