Relays, Famurewa Impress at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Kentucky men's distance medley relay won and Rebecca Famurewa threw a significant personal best in the hammer throw to conclude the Florida Relays on Saturday.

Kentucky concluded the Florida Relays, which has become the program's annual de facto outdoor-season opener, with six event wins. The aforementioned men's DMR was joined by high jumper Justin Kretchmer in the winner's circle on Saturday to go along with event winners Kendra Harrison, Kenyattia Hackworth and Robert Sandlin from Friday.

The Kentucky men's DMR team of Keffri Neal, Ian Jones, Lou Styles and Robert Sandlin ran 9:43.44 to win.

Rebecca Famurewa placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 207'09"/ 63.33m, which was a staggering 9-foot, one-inch PR.

Justin Kretchmer
won the University section of the high jump with a clearance at 6'11"/2.11m, tying his outdoor personal best as a Wildcat.

Raymond Dykstra remained undefeated in the javelin this seaosn, with a throw of 235'6"/71.78m.

Kentucky's women's 4x400m of Jasmine Mitchell, Kendra Harrison, Angelica Whaley and Morganne Phillips placed third in the Tom Jones University Division with a time of 3:32.62, the second fastest in program history.

Javianne Oliver
, Dominique Booker, Kenyattia Hackworth and Morganne Phillips ran 44.01 to place second in the Florida Relays 4x100m relay.

On Friday, Harrison became the first -- and to-date only -- woman to run the 400m hurdles in fewer than 55 seconds this year. She won her race in 54.94.

Kenyattia Hackworth improved her SEC-leading long jump to 21-feet, 0.5 inches/6.41m (+0) to win the invitational section on Friday. Kentucky went one-two in the invitational long jump as Sha'Keela Saunders placed second with a mark of 21'/6.40m (-0.6).

Also on Friday Senior transfer Robert Sandlin ran 3:44.14 to win the 1,500m.

Famurewa finished second in the discus with a mark of 175'1"/53.37m, which was a season best.

The Bellarmine Classic, where a select group of Wildcats were scheduled to compete this weekend, was cancelled due to flooding in Louisville.
