LEXINGTON, Ky. -

For the second time this weekend, freshman Justin Austin broke his 200 meter dash record with a time of 20.99 at the 2009 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at E.J. Nutter Field House on Sunday. Both Kentucky squads placed seventh overall at the conference championships.

Austin's mark places him in a tie for fourth all-time at UK with teammate Jose Acevedo in the event. The freshman also picked up a provisional mark with his personal-best finish. The Milwaukee, Wis., native also earned points for the Cats in the 60m dash, finishing the race in 6.73 for another provisional mark. Austin ended the evening as a member of the men's 4x400m relay team that ran a season-best time of 3:06.78. The relay time ranks fourth all-time at UK and is also good for an NCAA mark.

Junior Rondel Sorrillo, senior Brandon Austin and Acevedo rounded out the third-place relay squad.

Acevedo moved up in the UK record books in the 400m dash. The senior ran a personal-best time of 46.85 to place third overall. The mark earned Acevedo a provisional mark and moved him into fifth-place all-time at UK. The Venezuela native scored for the Cats in the 200m dash, placing seventh at a clip of 21.14 - also good for an NCAA mark.

Sorrillo tried to improve upon his automatic mark in the 60m prelims but came up just short, placing fourth in the event at 6.66 and earning a provisional.

Senior Mikel Thomas earned the Cats eight team points in the men's 60m hurdles with a second-place finish of 7.77 - good for a provisional mark.

Off the track, sophomore David Banks notched a personal-best distance in the triple jump with a fifth-place leap of 49-8.25 and improved his fifth-place mark all-time at UK.

In the women's shot put, three Wildcats scored for UK. Sophomore Jennifer Svoboda placed fourth overall with a season-best throw of 50-11, good for a provisional mark. Senior Emilee Strot threw a personal-best mark eclipsing the 50-foot mark with a toss of 50-3.25 to better her sixth-best mark in the UK record books. Sophomore Mary Angell placed seventh overall with a measurement of 48-10.

Seniors Rashaud Scott posted a provisional mark in the men's weight throw, pitching the weight a distance of 63-11.75 to place sixth overall.

UK came up sevens in all of the other relays as well.

The men's distance medley team of Henken, freshman Mike Knisley, freshman Trent Halasek and rookie Luis Orta placed seventh with a time of 10:08.30. Orta made up significant ground in the final leg of the race to put the Cats in scoring position.

Also placing seventh was the women's distance medley team of junior Katherine Peterson, Bishop, Ortman and junior Claire Laverty in a time of 11:53.22. Additionally, the women's 4x400m relay took home seventh in a time of 3:42.75.
